5-6 slices of bacon chopped up
1/2 of a small yellow or white onion diced small
2-3 tbsp flour, depending on how much fat your bacon produces
3 cups of milk
salt pepper and garlic to taste
cooks your bacon and saute onions in the bacon fat with the bacon until translucent.
Add the flour and stir around until its been absorbed.
Add the milk and stir , add the salt pepper and garlic. Let it come to a simmer and it should start getting as thick or thin as you like it. If you are using it for a casserole it will need to be fairly thick, think chowder.
We used this for green bean casserole. The husband thought it was one of the best dishes at the table that day.
